About Hanafuda Legends
What it is
Hanafuda Legends is a free online Koi-Koi game you can play in the browser or on Android. Match flower cards, build yaku, and climb a ranked ladder across seasons.
The game stays free forever. Optional cosmetics never affect play. Ranked seasons, eleven languages, and an iOS app on the way.
The story
My journey with Hanafuda began two years ago while reading the book Around the World in Eighty Games. I was immediately captivated by the history—from its popularity among Japanese soldiers in older times to the fact that Nintendo originally started as a Hanafuda manufacturer!
After playing countless versions online, I decided to build Hanafuda Legends to reflect my vision of what a premier digital Koi-Koi experience should look and feel like. This project is a labor of love, and I hope it brings you as much joy to play as it brought me to build.

Rules we play
Standard two-player Koi-Koi with a 48-card Hanafuda deck.
Capture by month, form yaku, then stop or call Koi-Koi for more points.
Ranked and casual modes use the same core rules; house options are listed in Learn to Play.
