Story

What it is

Hanafuda Legends is a free online Koi-Koi game. Play in the browser or on the Android app; iOS is in review. Eleven languages, ranked seasons, and every deck earnable by playing — nothing behind a paywall.

Why I built it

Minha jornada com Hanafuda começou há dois anos, enquanto lia o livro Around the World in Eighty Games. Fiquei imediatamente cativado pela história, desde sua popularidade entre os soldados japoneses nos tempos antigos até o fato de que Nintendo começou originalmente como fabricante de Hanafuda.

Depois de jogar inúmeras versões online, decidi criar Hanafuda Legends para refletir minha visão de como deveria ser uma experiência digital de alto nível Koi-Koi. Este projeto é um trabalho de amor e espero que lhe traga tanta alegria de brincar quanto construir ele me deu.

What's different

• No signup required to play — ranked, private rooms, vs computer and the tutorial all work without an account.
• 24 artist decks in the gallery, each credited to the people who made them.
• Nintendo-standard Koi-Koi rules with house-rule options (Teshi / Kuttsuki and koi-koi variants).
• Ranked seasons with a physical hanafuda deck as the prize for the season's top player.
