Story

What it is

Hanafuda Legends is a free online Koi-Koi game. Play in the browser or on the Android app; iOS is in review. Eleven languages, ranked seasons, and every deck earnable by playing — nothing behind a paywall.

Why I built it

Mon aventure avec Hanafuda a commencé il y a deux ans en lisant le livre Le tour du monde en quatre-vingts jeux. J'ai été immédiatement captivé par l'histoire, depuis sa popularité parmi les soldats japonais dans l'Antiquité jusqu'au fait que Nintendo a débuté en tant que fabricant de Hanafuda.

Après avoir joué à d'innombrables versions en ligne, j'ai décidé de créer Hanafuda Legends pour refléter ma vision de ce à quoi devrait ressembler une expérience numérique de premier ordre, Koi-Koi. Ce projet est un travail d'amour et j'espère qu'il vous apportera autant de joie de jouer que de le construire m'en a donné.

What's different

• No signup required to play — ranked, private rooms, vs computer and the tutorial all work without an account.
• 24 artist decks in the gallery, each credited to the people who made them.
• Nintendo-standard Koi-Koi rules with house-rule options (Teshi / Kuttsuki and koi-koi variants).
• Ranked seasons with a physical hanafuda deck as the prize for the season's top player.
