How do you play Koi-Koi online multiplayer?

Press "Play now" for online matchmaking with players worldwide, or "Private room" to create a game and share the link or room code with a friend. Both work in your browser with no download.

Can I play Hanafuda online for free?

Yes. Hanafuda Legends is free to play in your browser or on Android — ranked seasons, Daily Challenge, vs computer, and private rooms. No signup or subscription required. An iOS app is coming soon.

Koi-Koi is a traditional Japanese card game played with Hanafuda (flower cards). Two players match cards by month, capture sets called yaku, and choose to bank points or risk calling "Koi-Koi" for higher scores.

Play a card from your hand to match one on the table (same month), or add it to the table. Then draw a card and match or add it. When you form a yaku, you can stop to keep your points or call "Koi-Koi" to continue for more.

How do I play with a friend?

Click "Private Room", create a room, and choose how many rounds. Share the room code or link with your friend. They join with the code — no account required.

Yaku are scoring combinations of captured cards, such as "Five Brights", "Moon Viewing", or "Poetry Ribbons". Each yaku has a point value; the game explains them as you play.

Story

What it is

Hanafuda Legends is a free online Koi-Koi game. Play in the browser or on the Android app; iOS is in review. Eleven languages, ranked seasons, and every deck earnable by playing — nothing behind a paywall.

Why I built it

Mi viaje con Hanafuda comenzó hace dos años mientras leía el libro La vuelta al mundo en ochenta juegos. Inmediatamente quedé cautivado por la historia, desde su popularidad entre los soldados japoneses en la antigüedad hasta el hecho de que Nintendo comenzó originalmente como un fabricante de Hanafuda.

Después de jugar innumerables versiones en línea, decidí crear Hanafuda Legends para reflejar mi visión de cómo debería verse y sentirse una experiencia digital de primer nivel Koi-Koi. Este proyecto es un trabajo de amor y espero que les brinde tanta alegría de jugar como me dio a mí construirlo.
