What is Koi-Koi?

How do I play?
Play a card from your hand to match one on the table (same month), or add it to the table. Then draw a card and match or add it. When you form a yaku (scoring combination), you can stop to keep your points or call "Koi-Koi" to continue for more.
How do I play with a friend?
Click "Private Room", create a room, and choose how many rounds. Share the room code with your friend. They click "Private Room", enter the code, and join. No account required for the other player.
What are yaku?
Yaku are scoring combinations of captured cards, such as "Five Brights", "Moon Viewing", or "Poetry Ribbons". Each yaku has a point value; the game explains them as you play.

How to Play Hanafuda Koi-Koi Online
Koi-Koi is a traditional Japanese card game played with Hanafuda (flower cards). Two players match cards by month, capture sets called yaku, and choose to bank points or call "Koi-Koi" for higher scores.
Game setup
Each player receives 8 cards. Eight cards are placed face-up in the center (the field). The remaining 24 cards form the draw deck. Players alternate turns.
Turn flow
Play a card from your hand: if it matches a card on the field (same month), capture both; otherwise add it to the field. Then draw a card and match or add it. If you form a yaku (scoring combination), you can stop to keep points or call Koi-Koi to continue for more.
Yaku (scoring combinations)
Yaku include Five Brights, Moon Viewing, Poetry Ribbons, and many more. Each has a point value; the game shows them as you play.
