Regional Hanafuda
Echigo Pattern (without metallic overprints)
Suryong

Deck description
A reimagining of the Echigo hanafuda pattern, slightly modified for Koi-koi gameplay purposes, and with the gold and silver overprints removed, allowing a clear view of the unique, simplified woodblock pattern which has quite an angular appearance with its generous use of straight lines. This pattern from Niigata prefecture copied the design of old "Musashino" hanafuda decks from the late 1700's, and features Japanese poems on the Chaff cards, as well as the closed umbrella on the Rain Man card and the lack of a lightning storm motif on the Willow Chaff.
