Deck description

This deck pays homage to the beauty of German nature and the time-honored world of Hanafuda. Each month has been designed with plants, animals, and seasonal motifs typical of Germany. Many of the motifs are deliberately inspired by their Japanese counterparts; as a subtle nod to the original cards and, at the same time, to maintain familiarity and a smooth gameplay experience for experienced Hanafuda players. We placed special emphasis on ensuring that each monthly series tells a little story. Plants, animals, and objects come together to form harmonious scenes that capture the character of each season and give every month its own unique atmosphere. This deck was created following our stay in Japan, where my husband discovered his passion for Hanafuda. What began as a personal gift became a loving connection between two cultures: German seasons and Japanese card-playing traditions. This deck is meant to bridge both worlds and allow players to experience the joy of Hanafuda in a new way. Despite its new designs, the deck remains fully compatible with the classic Hachi-Hachi-Bana card set and is suitable for traditional games such as Koi-Koi or Hana-Awase.
