Hanamaki Pattern (with metallic overprints)
Suryong

Deck description
The luxurious version of the Hanamaki pattern includes the addition of gold paint that was applied with a paintbrush, keeping with the hand-brushed aesthetic of the entire pattern. This pattern from Iwate prefecture features thin and delicate lines on the woodblock print. Colors were traditionally applied manually with a paintbrush, prioritizing speed over accuracy, resulting in a unique color style full of visible brush strokes, dots, and blobs of color that seem to ignore the placement of the woodblock pattern. Some elements from the "Musashino" hanafuda decks from the late 1700's were retained in this pattern, such as the red Full Moon, the closed umbrella on the Rain Man card and the lack of a lightning storm motif on the Willow Chaff. Hidden Lore The Crescent Moon: One of the August Chaff cards features a red crescent moon, which is treated as a Ribbon card in certain regional hanafuda games.
