Match the month
Play a card that shares a month with one on the field to capture both.
Hanafuda are traditional Japanese flower cards: a 48-card deck with one suit for each month of the year. The most widely played game with that deck is Koi-Koi — a two-player matching game where you capture cards that share a month, build scoring combinations called yaku, and choose whether to bank your points or call “Koi-Koi” to keep going for a higher score.
Hanafuda Legends lets you play Koi-Koi online free in your browser with no signup and no download. Join ranked matchmaking against players worldwide, practise against the computer at several difficulty levels, or open a private room and share a link with a friend. The experience is available in eleven languages, with an Android app live and iOS coming soon.
New to the rules? Start with Learn to Play for turn flow and scoring, then read individual yaku pages such as Animals (Tane), Five Brights, and Ino-Shika-Cho so you know which combinations to chase at the table.
